Biography
Paraskevi Papadopoulou is Professor of Biology at Deree-The American College of Greece (ACG). She holds Biology degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles, and from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and a Ph.D. in Biology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
She has served as the Biomedical Science Research (BMSR) Team Leader at the Research, Technology, & Innovation Network (RTIN) (Sep. 2021-Aug. 2024). She has served as Head of the Department of Science and Mathematics and Director of the Biomedical Sciences Program at Deree-ACG (2020-2023). She has coordinated the development of the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) (2017-2019) and has served as the Program Coordinator of the BMS program (2020). She has served as Sciences Area Coordinator (2017-2020) and Assistant Head (2014-2017). She has served as Head of the Department of Science and Mathematics (2011-2014). She has served as Head of the Department of Science, Technology, and Mathematics at Deree-ACG (2008-2011). She contributed significantly to the development of the Environmental Studies program and the Information Technology (IT) program at Deree-ACG (2010-12).
Her research covers a wide range of subject areas, focusing on structural biology/molecular biophysics and bioinformatics and structural and self-assembly studies of fibrous proteins. She has also contributed to the development of genetic testing protocols for genetic diseases, such as Tuberous Sclerosis and Neurofibromatosis type 1. Her current research engagement expands on environmental health issues, big data analytics in bioinformatics, medicine, health and healthcare, the evolution of consciousness, Mediterranean biodiversity and green roofs, and innovative teaching and learning methods in STEM disciplines.
Her research work has been reflected in over 60 scientific articles, papers, and book chapters, as well as in 5 books. She serves as Associate Editor in Frontiers in Digital Health (Personalized Medicine) and as Frontiers Topic Editor in Frontiers in Digital Health (Ethical Digital Health). She also serves as a Review Editor and Reviewer in high-impact journals. She is a GBD Senior Collaborator for the Global Burden of Disease network and a member in  Thematic and Exchange Networks of the EU Health Policy Platform.
She teaches a variety of courses, mainly Introduction to Biology, Human Genetics, Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology, and co-teaches the Research Methods course for the Environmental Studies programs.
