Tobias Mahler

Professor Tobias Mahler is deputy director of the Norwegian Research Center for Computers and Law. His current research focuses on regulating robotics and artificial intelligence, as well as on risk-based approaches in law, including in the context of digital identity. He has advised the EU Commission in its preparation for the Digital Services Act and participates in the development of standards for artificial intelligence. Mahler is co-founder of the Legal Innovation Lab Oslo (LILO) at the University of Oslo. He has been guest researcher at Stanford Law School and the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law in Freiburg, Germany. In 2024 he is on a research leave at the Centre for Research on Law and Society (CEDIS) at NOVA Law School, Lisbon.
